Lester William Polsfuss
Les Paul, the Wizard of Waukesha (Wisc.), passed away today. Paul's guitar performance, inventiveness and styling over the past 80 years spawned the growth of a new guitar sound and new methods of music recording. Paul invented the solid body electric guitar, and his name was branded onto the Gibson guitar for decades. Paul developed recording techniques of over dubbing, delay effects, phasing effects and multi-track recording, all in common use today. And with his wife Mary Ford, Paul created some amazing music.
